Kartila is a 34-year-old Indonesian helper who previously worked in Singapore from 2017 to 2019. During her employment, she took care of an 83-year-old healthy elderly (Akong) while also managing household chores such as cleaning, cooking, washing, and ironing in a 4-room HDB flat. She is able to cook dishes like fried rice, steamed egg, fried vegetables, steamed fish, and lodeh. Kartila speaks simple English and Bahasa, and although she has not cared for children professionally, she has hands-on experience raising her own.
